Apple iPhone Tips Shortcuts

Blog post by Boomer54 Mark

I just bought my wife, Victoria or as I call her The Red Headed Trip, an iPhone for Valentine’s Day.

We have waited 4 years until the iPhone Top 3 iPhone 4 Shortcuts Tips and Tricks was available on Verizon. AT&T’s service quite frankly sucked.

So when the iPhone became available on Verizon, I knew it would make a perfect gift for her.

However, support by Verizon on the basics of the phone was below par. So I went looking for a few simple shortcuts, tips and tricks.

So here are my Power 3s for the iPhone for Boomers:

1. The basics (undo, copy & paste, search).

* Undo: Simply shake your iPhone to set the undo feature into motion.
* Copy & Paste: Double tapping the text you want to copy will cause black buttons to pop up. Click the Select All button or Select and grab the ends of the blue highlighted text to expand your selection. Click the Copy button, and to paste, simply double tap again and hit the Paste button.
* Search: The search feature spans names of apps and people in your contacts to email subject lines. Flip your home screen to the left-most page to find the search box.

2. Scroll to the top.

At the bottom of a webpage or long email and want to automatically go to the top without scrolling? Double tap the timestamp/signal bar and you’ll automatically zoom to the top of the page.

3. Organize and delete apps.

To move, organize into folders or delete apps that prove useless, press and hold down any app until all start shaking. To move an app, drag it to the position you’d like it in. To organize your apps into folders, simply drag one app on top of another. To delete an app, simply press the black X in the top left corner.

Additional 2 Tips:

4. Live in the dock.

Just like you minimize open applications on your computer, you can do the same with apps on your iPhone. Once you open an app, it continues to run in the background even after you close it and open another. These open apps live in your iPhone’s dock.

* To open the dock and quickly switch between apps, press the home button twice. Apple calls this “multitasking.”
* Press the gray circular arrow button in your dock to lock your screen orientation. Your screen will remain in portrait or landscape no matter how you move or tilt your phone.
* To exit an app without restarting your iPhone, press and hold an app in your dock until it shakes. Then, press the red minimize button to exit it.

5. Reset your iPhone.

Concern your GPS, wireless, mail, or other features aren’t working correctly? Before you schedule time at the Genius Bar, make sure you try resetting your phone first. Go to Settings > General > Reset where you can choose how and what you want to reset — from home screen layout to network settings. (Note: make certain to back your iPhone up on your computer through iTunes before resetting your iPhone.)
