As I write Hurricane Irene’s path in 2011 ,”Mean Irene”, is bearing down on the eastern coast of the United States.

My wife has this in case of emergency checklist on our refrigerator and in sharing it, I hope it helps as people evacuate their homes.

Hurricane Evacuation Checklist

If you are asked to evacuate due to a hurricane or other emergency, use the following list of items as a guideline of what to take with you along with your Emergency Supply Kit.

1. Cash and Credit Cards

2. Important Documents:
–Social Security Card
–Drivers License
–Passport
–Medical Records
–Insurance Information

3. Personal Hygiene Items:
–Toothbrush and toothpaste
–Shampoo
–Lotion
–Soap
–Deodorant
–Kleenex and toilet tissue

4. Family Photos

5. Baby Items:
–Diapers
–Formula
–Food
–Change of clothing

6. Special Needs Items:
–Wheelchair
–Medications
–Canes

7. Pet Care Items:
–Identification
–Immunizations
–Carrier or cage
–Muzzle and leash
–Food

My goal was for this evacuation check list to help at least one person…
